Before joining Caravan, Lara worked in multiple HR leadership roles at Compass Minerals where she led major talent initiatives for the company and supported the leadership team in development and implementation of high-performance culture initiatives. She oversaw leadership development programs, succession planning, employee resource groups, diversity and inclusion initiatives and talent acquisition activities such as intern and mentoring programs. Lara sponsored the first employee resource group, Women’s LINK and supported the development of other emerging leader programs within the organization.
Prior to Compass, Lara worked in an HR leadership capacity for Santa Marta, a premier Kansas non-profit continuous care community. During her tenure there she implemented key programs leading to significant increases in employee retention including building and implementing leadership development programs, implementation of HR systems, strategic leadership management, and initiatives aimed at improving employee relations.
Lara holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas in woman’s studies with a minor in sociology. She earned her Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute. Lara is an active member of SHRM and holds her SHRM-CP (Society of Human Resource Certified Professional) she is also a member of other human resource organizations such as HCI (Human Capital Institute) and TMA (Talent Management Alliance). She also takes part in the Central Exchange Emerging Leaders group in Kansas City, a group supporting the professional advancement of women.
